Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
These terms govern your use of the G&P Tree Specialists ("we," "us," or "our") website and the services we provide. By using our website or hiring us for work, you agree to these terms.
Website Use
This website is provided for informational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to keep the content accurate and up to date, but we don't guarantee that everything on the site is complete or current at all times. Service descriptions and photos represent typical work and may not reflect every project.
Estimates and Pricing
Estimates provided through our website, by phone, or during a site visit are based on the information available at that time. Estimates are not binding contracts. Final pricing may change based on:
- Actual site conditions discovered during the work (hidden decay, embedded metal, buried debris, access issues, etc.)
- Changes in scope requested by the customer
- Access issues not apparent during the initial visit
- Weather-related extensions or additional trips required
- Disposal cost changes
We will communicate any significant changes in pricing before proceeding with additional work.
Emergency Work
Emergency and after-hours work (storm damage, hazard removal, access clearing) may be billed at rates that differ from standard scheduled work. For emergency calls, we will give you a good-faith estimate over the phone when possible and confirm on site before beginning work. When a hazard threatens immediate life or property safety, we may begin stabilization work and confirm pricing as soon as it's safe to do so.
Underground Utilities — Virginia 811
It is the customer's responsibility to call Virginia 811 (Miss Utility) at least 3 business days before the scheduled date for any work that involves stump grinding, excavation, or disturbing the ground beyond surface debris. You can reach them at 811 or 1-800-552-7001, or submit a request at virginia811.com.
G&P Tree Specialists is not responsible for damage to underground utilities (water, sewer, gas, electric, cable, fiber, etc.) that were not properly marked by Miss Utility prior to the start of work. If you are unsure whether 811 should be called, call anyway — it's free.
Property Boundaries and Permissions
The customer is responsible for knowing the property boundaries and confirming that we have permission to perform work where requested. This includes:
- Trees on or straddling a property line
- Access routes that cross neighboring land
- HOA or homeowner association approvals where required
- Historic-district, municipal, or protected-tree permits where applicable
We will work in good faith based on the customer's representation of boundaries and permissions. We are not responsible for disputes that arise from inaccurate or incomplete information provided about property boundaries or authorization.
Scheduling and Weather
All scheduled work is subject to:
- Weather conditions: High winds, lightning, heavy rain, ice, and other conditions can delay or reschedule work for crew safety. We will communicate any weather-related changes as soon as possible.
- Site access: We need adequate access for our equipment. If conditions change (e.g., saturated ground becomes impassable), work may need to be rescheduled.
- Priority emergency work: During and immediately after major storms, emergency calls may take priority over scheduled work. We will communicate schedule changes as soon as we know them.
Deposits and Payment
- Deposits: A deposit may be required to secure your spot on the schedule. Deposit amounts vary by project size.
- Cancellation: Deposits are non-refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of scheduled work, as we may have turned down other jobs or mobilized equipment.
- Balance due: The remaining balance is due upon completion of the work, unless we have agreed to different terms in writing.
- Accepted payment methods: Cash, credit cards, and Zelle.
Property Access
The customer is responsible for ensuring that we have clear access to the work area. This includes:
- Removing vehicles, trailers, outdoor furniture, or other obstacles from access routes and drop zones
- Unlocking gates, securing pets indoors, and notifying us of any access restrictions
- Confirming that we have permission to access the property (especially if the work area crosses neighboring land)
- Clearing the area under a tree that is being removed or pruned of anything the customer wants to protect (lawn ornaments, fragile plants, pool covers, etc.)
If we arrive on site and cannot access the work area, the visit may count toward the deposit.
Debris and Disposal
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, brush and small-diameter wood is chipped on site, and larger wood rounds are either left stacked for the customer or hauled off for an additional fee. Stump grindings are left in place unless full cleanup has been agreed in advance. Full haul-off (including stump grindings) is available as an add-on.
Cancellation
Either party may cancel a project with written notice (email, text, or letter). For cancellations by the customer:
- More than 48 hours before scheduled work: deposit is refundable
- Within 48 hours of scheduled work: deposit is non-refundable
- After work has begun: customer is responsible for payment for work completed to date
Limitation of Liability
G&P Tree Specialists performs all work in a professional manner consistent with industry standards. However, tree work involves inherent risks, including the potential for branches to fall unexpectedly and for trees to behave in unpredictable ways once cut. Our total liability for any claim arising from our work is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific service in question.
We are not liable for:
- Damage to unmarked underground utilities (see Virginia 811 section above)
- Pre-existing conditions on the property not disclosed to us
- Damage to items left under or near a tree scheduled for work when those items could reasonably have been moved
- Acts of God, subsequent storms, natural decay progression, or normal settling after project completion
- Delays caused by weather, utility companies, or other factors outside our control
Insurance Work
We are happy to work with homeowners' insurance claims after storm damage. We can provide written scope, photos, and documentation needed for your claim. Final payment remains the responsibility of the property owner regardless of insurance outcome.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Culpeper County, Virginia or the surrounding jurisdiction.
